I recently met members of the Norwich Renters Collective, who travelled to Parliament for a housing lobby day hosted by Chris Hinchliff MP.
We talked about their campaign to stop housing developers from donating to political parties. They are deeply concerned that developers have a seat at the table, while renters and those needing affordable housing are being left behind.
I have sponsored Chris Hinchliff’s amendment to the Representation of the People Bill. If passed, it would stop property developers from making political donations to political parties. It would be a simple but important step towards making sure housing policy is shaped in the public interest, not by those with the deepest pockets.
