Campaigning for decent, accessible dental services in Norwich

  • Dental services in Norwich and Norfolk are in crisis; hundreds of adults and children cannot get the care that they need. I’m campaigning to save dental services in Norwich and Norfolk.

TOGETHER WE SAVED OUR WALK-IN CENTRE!

  • Concerned constituents told me about the potential closure of the Rouen Road walk-in centre. So, myself, the Labour Parliamentary Candidate for Norwich North, Alice Macdonald, and Labour activists in Norwich came together to start a campaign to save the centre.

Campaigning for decent mental health care in Norwich and Norfolk

  • Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation Trust (NSFT) provides local mental health services. The Care Quality Commission has rated NSFT “inadequate” four times since 2017.
  • Although the rating has recently improved, I still want a public inquiry to investigate how the trust was allowed to fail repeatedly, learning lessons to prevent it from happening again

Stop Redundancies at the University of East Anglia

  • The University of East Anglia (UEA) is not only a vital ‘anchor institution’ in Norwich, it’s one of the most important in the Eastern region. In mid-2023, the university announced said it needed to cut over £45 million from its annual budget, meaning over 100 job losses.
  • I have worked and will continue to work with the University College Union and other unions to try and prevent job losses and cuts at UEA.
  • Our public services are vital, and the Conservatives have run them into the ground. Since 2010, combined funding for local services in Norwich and Norfolk has been slashed by well over £1,000,000,000.
  • I have been campaigning to protect and improve public services in Norwich because the fight for high-quality services is part of the collective fight for a better future.

Say NO to parking unfairness at Earlham House

  • Signs have appeared at Earlham House shopping centre saying there would be a charge to use the car park from “around the 1st June 2017”. These charges threatened the livelihood and existence of local shops and placed more parking pressure on nearby streets where it’s already difficult for residents to park.

Keep our Schools and Children Safe from Fire

  • The Government’s call in 2021 to drop requirements for sprinklers to be installed in all new school buildings compromises the safety of pupils, staff and firefighters. I demanded the Government reverse this dangerous decision.

Scambassador

  • I was pleased to work with the Chartered Trading Standards Institute and the National Trading Standards Scam Team to become a #Scambassador. I’ll inform my constituents of mass marketing scams’ massive financial and emotional detriment – and, most importantly, how to avoid them.
