I was pleased to visit St Michael’s V.A. Junior School to meet with Executive Headteacher, Helen McCarney, to hear about how well the school is doing, and to discuss any potential issues that they foresee.
Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) and the allocation of SEND pupils was mentioned and is something I continue to share your concerns with. I historically have backed a more inclusive education system for SEND children and this remains a key campaign here.
In the wake of the local elections and a Reform led County Council, I am extremely concerned with the way in which the Local Authority will approach this. This is something I am monitoring closely and I will make representations if necessary.
