It was a pleasure to visit Sustainable Living Initiative at Marlpit Community Garden recently to learn more about the fantastic work they are doing to support both local people and the environment.
The organisation brings people together through gardening and sustainable environmental projects, helping to improve wellbeing, encourage community connections, and promote food security. From experienced gardeners to complete beginners, everyone is welcome to share skills, ideas, knowledge and of course a cup of tea.
I was particularly interested to hear about the work taking place at the Marlpit site to regenerate the land and enhance biodiversity through approaches such as No Dig gardening, permaculture, and composting. It is a great example of how community-led projects can create lasting environmental and social benefits.
The Sustainable Living Initiative is always looking for volunteers, so if you would like to get involved, you can contact them at sustainable@grow-our-own.co.uk.
