I have written to the Secretary of State for the Home Department to request that she meets with UNISON and their members involved in their ongoing Fair Visa campaign.
This campaign seeks to:
- End exploitation by replacing employer sponsored visas with a sector-wide scheme in social care.
- Rescind on retrospective applications and 15-year qualifying periods for ILR with recognition for the vital economic and social contribution of care workers.
- Support a fully funded Fair Pay Agreement for the social care sector.
If implemented, these proposals would overturn long-held life plans and ignore the vital contribution made by frontline workers.
As the government progresses proposals for settlement reform and the upcoming Immigration & Asylum Bill, I will continue to raise the voices and concerns of Norwich South’s migrant workers in Parliament.
