I have written to the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs to raise serious concerns from my constituents about the ongoing water crisis and sewage scandal.
Many feel that the current system is failing – allowing water companies to prioritise profit over environmental protection and public health. There is also deep concern about the future of Thames Water and the wider impact on customers and our local environment.
In my letter, I asked the Secretary of State to:
- Outline how her proposals for reform of the water system will end sewage dumping and prevent profit from pollution.
- Confirm when she will meet with the victims of the sewage scandal.
- Confirm whether she will reject Thames Water’s creditors’ latest proposal and place the company into Special Administration.
