Clive with constituents in Westminster Hall

I recently met two constituents in Westminster Hall during a mass lobby of Parliament calling on the Government to stop its plans for an “earned settlement” system.

The event – hosted by Olivia Blake MP – brought together hundreds of people from across the country to oppose proposals that would restrict settlement rights for migrants.

This lobby was organised in direct response to the Government’s intention to overhaul settlement routes, a move that could significantly impact those who already live and work in the UK. Many campaigners travelled long distances to speak to their MPs face to face and express their concerns.

This is an issue I am deeply concerned about and active on.

I recently wrote to the Shabana Mahmood MP, Secretary of State for the Home Department, alongside over 50 other MPs, to oppose these proposed changes.

I will continue to stand with constituents and campaign for a fair immigration system.
