I signed a parliamentary motion, alongside 33 other MPs, calling for the Statement of Changes in Immigration Rules, HC 1691, to be disapproved.
Under these changes, refugees would be granted protection for 30 months at a time, after which their status is reviewed.
This means people may face ongoing uncertainty about their future in the UK, with stability replaced by repeated reassessment and the possibility that their protection could be taken away.
The motion reads:
“That the Statement of Changes in Immigration Rules, HC 1691, a copy of which was laid before this House on 5 March, be disapproved.”
