I was hosted by the African‑Caribbean Medical Society and the Norwich Medical School Faculty at the Bob Champion Research and Education Building on the Norwich Research Park.

I met the next generation of NHS doctors and researchers and heard directly about student life at Norwich Medical School.

Students demonstrated clinical skills and research teams shared work on local disease management. They also raised clear concerns about tackling health inequalities and the wider health gaps across East Anglia. I have raised these issues in Parliament before, including in my Westminster Hall debate in September 2024 on healthcare in the East of England.

The visit also included an interview with students and staff. We discussed healthcare policy, the role of politics in the NHS, and then opened the floor for questions.

It was an insightful and collaborative evening. Hearing directly from students and staff about their experiences in the NHS is vital for my work in Parliament and in Norwich South.
