I am backing the Royal Titles Removal Bill, which is being introduced to Parliament by my Labour colleague Rachael Maskell MP.
The description of this bill is:
“A Bill to give the Monarch powers to remove titles; to provide that such removals can be done by the Monarch on their own initiative, following a recommendation of a joint committee of Parliament, or at the request of the person who holds the title; and for connected purposes.”
I have joined Rachael Maskell MP, and other MPs from across parties, to write to the Government asking that they give serious consideration to this Bill.
Removing Prince Andrew’s title – a symbol of power, privilege and control – must take place for the sake of justice and out of respect for victims of Jeffrey Epstein.
