I have joined 60 parliamentarians to write to the Prime Minister, urging him to abolish the two-child benefit cap.
The two-child benefit cap is a policy that continues to inflict severe and avoidable hardship on families across the country. The Child Poverty Action Group estimates that as a direct result of this policy, 109 children are being pushed into poverty every day.
The Poverty Strategy Commission published its final report this week, which set out the devastating impact of this measure and made it clear that its abolition must be central to any credible child poverty strategy.
