Letter from Clive Lewis MP to the Minister for Women and Equalities, dated 29 July 2025, raising concern that the Equality and Human Rights Commission’s revised Code of Practice may receive ministerial approval before being seen by MPs or the public. The letter calls for parliamentary scrutiny and asks whether the Government will present the changes to Parliament before approval.

I’m deeply concerned that significant changes to trans people’s rights could be approved without MPs or the public seeing the details first. This lack of transparency risks reducing accountability on issues that affect lives and freedoms. These proposals must be open to proper scrutiny before any approval. Everyone deserves to know what is being decided in their name.
