I visited the Ovarian Cancer Support Group, run by Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. The group offers a dedicated space for people affected by ovarian cancer — including patients, partners, friends, and relatives — to connect, share experiences, and support one another.
The group was formed because there was a lack of specialised support for this patient group, and the initiative aims to raise awareness around ovarian cancer, promote early diagnosis, and encourage regular check-ups. It also plays a vital role in educating the broader community on recognising symptoms and seeking timely medical advice.
Listening to the personal stories shared and witnessing the solidarity and strength in the room was a powerful reminder of the importance of spaces like this. The courage and compassion shown by patients highlighted the impact of community-led support.
