The Climate and Nature Bill is landmark legislation which I have Co-Sponsored and actively supported over many years. In January the bill was debated in Parliament, and I spoke to show my continued support.

As I set out during the debate, the Bill is about more than targets and strategies; it is a covenant with the natural world and with future generations.

Taking bold action on climate and nature is the best way for the Government to demonstrate true global leadership and do what is right, knowing that in the long run the cost of inaction is far, far greater than the cost of action.

On the day, I gave my support to the Bill’s sponsor Roz Savage MP, who negotiated an agreement with government. This will now see us enter into talks about how to take forward both the spirit and substance of the bill. This is something I will continue to be engaged in, as a Co-Sponsor of the Bill.

I will continue to give my support to the Climate and Nature Bill, the Zero Hour campaign, and give a voice to the many constituents, trade unions, and civil society groups who have all backed this bill.
