Trainee doctors at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) have made some serious complaints to the General Medical Council (GMC) about racist and misogynistic behaviour by senior staff in the medicine and surgery departments towards junior colleagues. There are also concerns about the clinical supervision of doctors in training and access to educational opportunities. This must be awful for staff and puts public confidence in the hospital at risk.
The GMC and NHS East of England (NEoE) have imposed several conditions on the NNUH to address the concerns urgently. I have asked GMC and NEoE to keep me regularly updated on progress. If you’re a member of staff and have any concerns about this or anything else, please get in touch by emailing clive.lewis.mp@parliament.uk
