I recently visited the East of England Ambulance Service Trust (EEAST), regularly criticised for its long waiting times for emergency calls. We discussed EEAST’s plans to improve response times which include using new Artificial Intelligence technology.

I met staff and saw the first bariatric ambulance operating from the Longwater depot, serving Norwich. A bariatric ambulance has an extra-wide interior, allowing clinicians and patients to move around more comfortably and safely.

EEAST is always looking for volunteers to help support the community. They work as community first responders or car drivers and are trained to respond to emergencies before the ambulance crew arrives. If you want to help, you can sign up here
