Clive Lewis For Norwich South
I have signed a joint statement from the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, Palestinian Forum in Britain, Friends of Al-Aqsa, Stop the War Coalition and the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament.
The statement notes that the Metropolitan Police are threatening to place restriction orders on a Palestine protest on September 7th. These orders would delay the start time by 1 hour and 45 minutes and also prevent the use of Pall Mall as an assembly point. This happened even though the original assembly time was 12pm and the assembly point had been public for days, with organisers first informing the police of their plans on the 8th of August.
I ask the Metropolitan Police to allow the protest to go ahead at its original time and location. The ability to peacefully protest is integral to a healthy democracy; this is no exception.
