Last night I was invited onto Sky News to discuss my appearance at an anti-racist protest in Norwich.

I told Sky that these anti-racism protests across the country have been a wonderful demonstration of our collective humanity, but that these protests on their own won’t defeat racism and fascism.

To truly defeat this evil, we as political leaders must stand up against it. It means an end to the mainstreaming of racist language and ideas.

I truly believe every crisis is an opportunity, and this Labour government has a golden chance to help our nation turn the corner. This means rebuilding and investing in local communities and telling a progressive story of what Britain can be in the 21st century.
