I have signed this letter from Stand Up To Racism calling for all those who value democracy and freedom to mobilise against the far-right.

In the wake of riots across British towns and cities, mosques and hotels housing migrants have been attacked. The far-right are spreading their hatred through Islamophobia and racism.

Far-right activist Tommy Robinson and his followers have exploited the knife attack in Southport, spreading misinformation about the attacker’s identity and inciting racist mobs across the country, chanting hateful slogans, clashing with police and making our streets unsafe.

Supremacists want us to believe that they’re the majority. The reality is, they’re a minority and they know it. That’s why they have to reinforce their views with violence & intimidation – whether physically or in terms of language used.

We, on the other hand, can strengthen our message with unity and solidarity, mobilising against the far-right to protect our Muslim, Jewish and other neighbours who are invaluable assets to our multicultural society.

That’s why I signed this letter. I will continue to stand on the right side of history and fight for the rights of all people.
