Clive Lewis For Norwich South
In today’s session of the Environmental Audit Committee on water quality and infrastructure, I questioned the CEO of Ofwat, David Black.
I asked him about the model of privatised water, and whether he believed that the model was working for customers and users. Following the news of a parasite outbreak in Devon’s water supply, I raised this question as it became clear that privatised water cannot ensure safe drinking water.
I also asked him about the structure of Thames Water and its multitude of holding companies, as well as the fact that the shareholders of water companies have invested “less than nothing” since privatisation.
