Today at Treasury Oral Questions, I asked Chancellor of the Exchequer, Jeremy Hunt, whether he has looked at the cost of failing to invest in climate adaption to GDP, public finances and jobs.

I asked this because according to the LSE Grantham Research Institute, by 2100 the cost of climate damage is projected to increase to 7.4% of the UK’s GDP.

Judging by the Chancellor’s response, he doesn’t seem to know the difference between mitigation and adaptation.
