For over a decade, I’ve heard devastating stories from families who have lost loved ones due to Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation Trust’s failings.

George Freeman MP and I hosted the Campaign to defend mental health services in Norfolk & Suffolk in Parliament, where they told Maria Caulfield, Under-Secretary of State for Mental Health and Women’s Health Strategy, about some of these stories.

Also in attendance were Tom Hunt MP, Duncan Baker MP, Jerome Mayhew MP and Chloe Smith MP.

These failings are clearly systemic and for many of these families, nothing short of a fundamental overhaul will bring them true peace.

Whilst a public inquiry is necessary, it is clear that a combination of cuts, staff demoralisation and a rotten culture at NSFT have destroyed our local mental health services.

I have campaigned for high quality mental health care in Norfolk and Suffolk for over a decade. Read about my campaign for decent local mental health services here.
