This morning I appeared on ITV’s Good Morning Britain alongside Laura Trevelyan, discussing the topic of reparations and our podcast, Heirs of Enslavement.

I told Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley that after hundreds of years of exploitation, the British Empire left the Caribbean with nothing. Our campaign for reparatory justice is about rectifying that mistake.

Following my visit to Grenada with Laura to discover our shared history, I became aware that I wouldn’t be able to raise the issue of reparations without Laura’s ancestors enslaving my own. I told Susanna and Richard this highlights how complex the story behind reparatory justice is.
