I am pleased to have launched a major new joint inquiry on racism and the environmental emergency

As the Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Race & Community, and the Co-Chair of the APPG on the Green New Deal, I am pleased to have launched a major new joint inquiry on racism and the environmental emergency.

From the disproportionate exposure and vulnerability to air pollution, to a lack of access to green spaces, people of colour in the UK are at the forefront of the climate and environmental emergencies.

There is a growing movement around the world, aligned on the principles of global solidarity and justice, which is saying: enough is enough.

The intention of this inquiry was to shine a light not just on the very systems of injustice causing climate breakdown. We also want to identify solutions that will correct these systems of injustice. We want to bring depth and detail to a Green New Deal thatcentres on system change and justice.

I was joined by Caroline Lucas MP, Dr Mya Rose Craig, Dr Shabna Begum, Tyronne Scott, and Lazarus Tamana.

Thank you to all those that joined the session.
