Today in Parliament I attempted to amend the government’s Energy Bill by tabling New Clause 36.

New Clause 36 would put in place a National Energy Guarantee, a system of energy pricing which shows that social and environmental goals can be achieved in tandem, embodying a Green New Deal in action. 

In Norwich, the rate of reporting fuel debts increased by a staggering 300%.

A National Energy Guarantee would ensure no one would have to choose between heating and eating.

Although we were unsuccessful in convincing the government that this is the right way forward, I am thankful for the massive scale of support I have seen surrounding my amendment over the last weeks and months. 

I’ve heard it mentioned on the radio, on television, and across social media. 

You have helped put this on the map. The fight is not over yet, we will continue to push for a fairer energy pricing system.
