I joined Caroline Lucas MP and the All Party Parliamentary Group on Climate Change, in writing to the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero to stop the development of the Rosebank oilfield.

The development of Rosebank risks putting the delivery of our climate targets out of reach, and would critically weaken the UK’s climate diplomacy.

The science is clear, there cannot be any new oil and gas infrastructure if the world is to stay within safe climate limits.

I urge the government to do everything to keep oil and gas reserves in the ground, and enable the UK’s transition to a zero-carbon society.

I look forward to the Minister’s swift response.
