A memorial for African and Caribbean soldiers
A memorial for African and Caribbean soldiers

Ahead of the 75th anniversary of the arrival of Empire Windrush to the UK, Voices of Windrush invited me to attend a memorial for African and Caribbean soldiers who fought for Britain, including in WWI and WWII, but also with allied forces in the Gulf, Middle East, Afghanistan, and the Falklands War.

Caribbean High Commissioners laid flowers in memory of fallen African and Caribbean soldiers at the Windrush Square memorial, in the presence of the Right Honorable Alando Terrelong MP, Minister of State for trade and the Diaspora Jamaica, and other dignitaries.

The legacy of those who sacrificed so much to fight for this country will never be forgotten.
