Today in the House of Commons chamber I raised a Point of Order in regards to reparations to Grenada and the wider islands of the Caribbean.

The Trevelyan family have started a £100,000 fund towards the island of Grenada to account for their family’s involvement in the slave trade. Whilst I welcome this fund, I find it disturbing that the British government is yet to enter serious negotiations with the island of Grenada and the wider Caribbean in regards to reparations.

Following my Point of Order, I have secured a debate on the Government’s role in promoting financial security and reducing inequality in the Caribbean, due to take place on the 8th of March in Westminster Hall.
