Nurses have been given no choice but to take strike action. After a decade of real terms pay cuts and deteriorating working conditions, they have had enough. With sky-high vacancies in the NHS, nurses are being driven out in their droves.

I joined striking nurses outside St Thomas’ Hospital near Parliament at a Royal College of Nursing picket line on the second day of strike action in December, where many nurses across the country have been standing up to demand fair pay and conditions.

Ultimately, these nurses looked after us in some of our most difficult times. It’s now time for us to show we support them.
