This month 140 Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust (NSFT) doctors wrote to its Chair to express their ‘lack of confidence’ in the organisation’s leadership. The medics called “for a major change in the operation and performance of the Trust”. NSFT’s own medical staff explicitly say that “clinical services are unable to provide good basic care and are unsafe”.
After four failed CQC inspections and over 1,000 deaths, NSFT is simply incapable of reforming itself. I have signed this letter to the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care to say, again, that enough is enough – the Department for Health and Social Care must finally act. Direct intervention from central Government must be the next step, and the Secretary of State needs to instruct his Department to take direct control of NSFT.
