Local press asked me to explain why, yesterday in parliament, I opposed the Tories’ social care proposals. Here’s what I said, in full
“If the public had any doubt about the Government’s intentions in this bill, then this on social care vote should have dispelled them. This is a bill that will make the less well off pay for the care for the better off. Just as it will further privatise the NHS by handing yet greater powers to private corporations and unaccountable ‘Integrated Care Systems’. With this power, they will hand more of our NHS to extractive private providers who will prioritise profit over care. That’s what last nights vote signalled loud and clear. “
