In November the UK will host the UN’s 26th Climate Change Conference #COP26. The UK’s credibility as COP26 President rests on demonstrable climate action at home.
Today in Parliament I pointed out to Alok Sharma, the President of COP26, that this Government’s actions – boasting about roadbuilding programmes, cutting the public rail infrastructure budget, and choosing not to step in and stop the planned coalmine in Cumbria – are simply not compatible with net zero commitments, let alone their own meagre climate goals.
