Many constituents have been in touch to let me know how they have benefited from the £20 a week increase to Universal Credit, which was introduced at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.
I’m calling on the government to make this £20 increase a permanent addition to an already modest benefit. There’s no doubt our benefit system is broken, and wider reform is needed, but this is one immediate measure which will provide a bit more security to many.
