Clive Lewis For Norwich South
Just a short update on this momentous day for British democracy. I can confirm that I will be voting in favour of today’s SO24 motion against a No Deal Brexit.
This Government’s disregard for democracy in trying to silence the country’s elected representatives cannot go unchallenged. I have been so heartened to see people up and down the country fighting for democracy. We will not be silenced.
I have spent the day trying to get this across to the media, and while I believe that this country desperately needs a General Election, I will only vote for one on Labour’s terms – not on Boris Johnson’s terms that could see the UK leaving the EU without a deal.
Once No Deal is categorically off the table, and the Prime Minister is unable to change the date of an election at his will, I will put all my energy into a General Election that sees Labour come to power and try to heal our desperately divided nation.
I know that it’s hard not to feel deflated with politics as they are, but I urge you all to keep protesting and let your voices be heard. Let’s stop this coup together.
