Clive, FSB and small business staff

Today, on our first ever #NorfolkDay, I’ve been out with the Federation of Small Businesses, visiting some of the small firms in my constituency, and hearing about some of their successes and challenges.

Throughout Norwich and the wider county, small businesses are using today as an opportunity to put on special activities, offer discounts, and run competitions.

In short, they’re demonstrating why they’re such a valued part of our communities, and why it’s essential that we as politicians continue to fight to level the playing field for them.

In the photos below, the first business is Treat- Norwich complementary health clinic, where constituents got the chance to stick needles in me! Next up was the Lanes Massage, and last but not least was Your Own Home (Your Own Place CIC) social enterprise – who were telling me about the challenge of businesses and charities what a social enterprise is. Essentially, social enterprises are a hybrid of business and charity where the profits are ploughed back into the business (not for profit) and social value is acheived.
