Delighted to attend the APPG on Drones Inquiry, ‘The UK’s use of Armed Drones: Working with partners’ yesterday. It was a privilege to hear of the culmination of work that is being done on this very serious matter regarding the use of drones with partners and the UK’s involvement in foreign engagements. I have made contributions to this inquiry dating back to my time on the backbench and I’m pleased to see this come into fruition.
The inquiry has rightly reiterated how important it is to maintain a focus on the legality of the use of drones and ensure this government is held accountable for any complicity that the UK is found to have in wars that are deemed illegal and/or immoral by the UN Security Council.
