Clive Lewis For Norwich South
This evening, Caroline Lucas MP and I co-sponsored the launch of Gamechangers for a Green New Deal, with members of my team attending in my place.
The Gamechangers for a Green New Deal report sets out 8 key elements of a Green New Deal, going beyond simple policy demands and bringing organisations together to put forward the fundamental changes we need to make to our economy.
The Gamechangers report itemises how to: guarantee the basics for a decent life; recognise limits to resource consumption; build the power of local economies; bring critical infrastructure into democratic ownership; put workers and communities at the heart of decision-making; and end the extraction of wealth from the Global South.
The principles itemised above can change the game, allowing us to heal our relationship with nature whilst building a future of clean energy and thriving communities.
At the launch, we heard from speakers representing organisations such as Common Wealth, Badvertising, Landworkers’ Alliance, Women’s Budget Group and Finance for the Future.
The event covered a wide range of ideas and was an excellent summary of the vast range of possibilities when it comes to the benefits of a Green New Deal.
