Ahead of the Autumn Statement, I’ve joined over 40 economists, MPs, campaigners and academics to call on the Chancellor, Jeremy Hunt, to invest in our essential public services.

Today, We Are The Economy, a coalition of organisations and high-profile individuals, started their campaign to urge the Chancellor to use the upcoming budget to prioritise investing in the services that will improve our lives, reboot our economy, and help us meet our climate targets.

I believe that our economy should be in service of public wellbeing. This means that universally accessible housing, transport, education, and healthcare are not just optional extras, they are essential for a thriving society.
