Clive Lewis MP joins striking physiotherapists on the picket line at NNUH

I had a great time on the picket line at NNUH speaking to NHS physios from the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy. They were among thousands across England taking strike action today. This Government’s refusal to have a meaningful discussion about a fair pay deal for these essential workers is crippling the NHS.

NHS physiotherapy staff in 63 employers across England took strike action on January 26 and February 9, as part of our ongoing dispute over pay and retention.

If staff are not paid fairly this will only lead to more pressure on the NHS, if staff are driven out, and those who remain come under more stress. This will create a vicious cycle, with longer waits for patients and an uphill battle to recruit new staff. The staff who make our NHS run must be rewarded fairly and offered good working conditions in which to treat patients.
