What we saw in Bristol over the weekend confirms that the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill must be withdrawn. I have written to the Prime Minister with that request, and to remind him that in a democratic society it is the duty of Government to respect and uphold the right of the public to come together and make known their disagreements with the actions of those they employ – the Government, the judiciary, and the police.
