The Norwich Evening News asked me to comment on reports of “heavy-handed” ticket inspectors throwing passengers off city buses. Several constituents have contacted my fellow Norwich Labour MP Alice MacDonald, who is meeting with the bus company about the reports.

This is what I said to the newspaper about the issue.

“Making public transport more attractive to people is essential to battle climate breakdown, pollution and congestion around the city. Getting people to use public transport instead of private vehicles is enough of a struggle, so this heavy-handed behaviour makes it even more difficult. Surely, this is extremely simple? The bus company needs to stop throwing off the bus people who have clearly got reasonable evidence they have paid for a ticket.”
