Clive Lewis For Norwich South
On Saturday, I had the pleasure of meeting with members of the Patient Participation Group for St. Stephen’s Gate Surgery in Norwich.
We had a valuable discussion about their concerns surrounding current policy and underfunding of GP services.
Listening to their firsthand experiences and insights highlighted the pressing need for improved support and resources for our healthcare providers for the benefit of patients. Some of the concerns they shared with me included:
- The salary increase imposed by the NHS on surgery staff including GPs is far less than is being awarded to consultants and junior doctors in secondary care
- The need to urgently address GP practices’ funding and recruitment need
- Fixing what we can now, and not waiting for the long-term planning being undertaken to address reform of the NHS
I am committed to ensuring that their voices are heard and will continue to push for positive change in healthcare policy under the new Government.
In the first week back in Parliament in September 2024 I sponsored a debate on healthcare provision in the East of England. I had the chance to raise a wide range of healthcare issues faced by Norwich South constituents directly to the Minister.
