Clive Lewis For Norwich South
I back the minister for Local Government’s decision not to progress with current proposals for devolution in Norfolk. The minister is right when he says in his refusal letter that devolution works best when local authorities partner up.
I also agree with other government criteria for successful devolution, which include the need for proposals to be tailored to meaningful economic geographies and build on existing public service and partnership arrangements.
Alongside the leader of Norwich City Council, Norfolk County and Broadland Labour Group leaders, and the Labour MP for Norwich North, I’ve already met with the Minister this month to advocate for a solution that will benefit Norwich most. I’ll continue to champion our city as discussions on devolution progress.
