I have launched a campaign asking the water regulator, Ofwat, to stop water companies from hiking up our water bills.

Last year, untreated sewage was discharged into English waterways for more than 3.6 million hours. In 2022, water companies paid out £1.4 billion in dividends – even as 11 of them were fined in the same year for missing performance targets.

Just last month, it was reported that the water regulator, Ofwat, is considering cutting fines for some water companies. On Thursday, July 11, Ofwat will announce whether or not they intend to let water companies hike bills over the next 5 years.

Water companies have been lobbying hard to hike bills to inflation-busting levels, between 24% and 91%.

Click here to write to David Black, CEO of Ofwat, today. Ask him to halt these price rises and make water companies pay to clean up their mess.
