Clive Lewis For Norwich South
Yesterday marked four years since the Grenfell Fire tragedy. We remember the 72 people who lost their lives, and stand in solidarity with the family, friends and community they left behind.
Such a tragedy must never happen again. Yet people are still living in unsafe homes because of the Government’s lack of leadership and skewed priorities. Going on the current pace of work, it could be 2043 at the earliest by the time all buildings over 18m with unsafe cladding have been dealt with.
The Government urgently needs to commit to make all homes safe, and to back this up with funding, enforcement and support.
