I’ve co-signed this letter calling on the Prime Minister to back a clear air strategy to reduce the risk of coronavirus – and to form a key part of an economic recovery that puts public health and the environment centre stage.
The APPG (All Party Parliamentary Group) on air pollution has this month released their ‘Air Quality Strategy to Reduce Coronavirus’ report, which outlines how pollution is linked with higher COVID-19 death and infection rates. Read it here: https://appgaq.files.wordpress.com/2020/06/air-quality-strategy-to-reduce-coronavirus-3.pdf
Proposals set out in the report – and our letter below – include public transport improvements, cleaner private transport, more cycling and pedestrian spaces, a reduction in ammonia fertilisers and the adoption of the World Health Organisation’s air quality targets.
