Clive Lewis For Norwich South
This year, FoodCycle celebrate both their tenth birthday and the fact they’ve now served over one million meals to communities across England: both fantastic achievements!
The pictures below are from a visit I made to FoodCycle Norwich a couple of years ago.
Over the past ten years, FoodCycle have been a lifeline for many who are subject to food poverty or social isolation. The one million meals they’ve served across their 39 projects nationwide have been consumed by over 275,000 different individuals. Last year alone, FoodCycle Norwich saved 3674 kg of food and served 2549 community meals.
As ever, I’m proud that Norwich has organisations like this which support and care for those in need – but am saddened that such schemes are so essential in today’s society to make sure people don’t go hungry.
Thank you to all the volunteers in Norwich and across the country who give up their time to make the great work FoodCycle do possible.
