My interview on Afghanistan with Novara Media

Last week I was disappointed to not be selected to speak in the debate on Afghanistan, where I served in 2009. I spoke to Novara Media about where we find ourselves, and having listened to the debate last week in Parliament I’m afraid to say I don’t think the House has learnt lessons.
This whole notion of liberal interventionism – the idea that we have the God given right to go into other countries and bomb them or occupy them to find democracy – it doesn’t work.
