Q: Please use this space to tell me any other views you have about Community Pharmacies.
A: We need them. My stepson has bad asthma, and as it is we have to drive across the city to get his prescription, if that closed goodness knows what we’d do.

A: Local pharmacies are already under pressure and I’ve noticed the services provided by my local one have deteriorated of late – further cuts would make this situation worse.

A: Local provision and having access to services relevant to need are integral components of any cohesive community in which people feel safe and secure, and to which people will subsequently be more likely to invest their time to improve their communities and help them thrive.
In my experience, fractured and neglected communities in which people are systematically disenfranchised are at high risk becoming ghettos of the disadvantaged and disaffected. Communities are as much the sum of their constituent parts as Parliament, society and nation are the sum of its constituencies.

Q: Please use this space to tell me any other views you have about Community Pharmacies.
A: My community pharmacy is excellent. The pharmacist always takes the time to explain about any new medications I’m prescribed and he is always available to give advice on minor ailments. He also goes out of his way to make me feel like a valued customer, including telling me about the free prescription collection and delivery service and asking if there is anything else he can do for me.

A: Closure of pharmacies will put yet more pressure on GPs and out of hours – in turn putting pressure on A&E
