On Friday afternoon, I participated in Notre Dame High School's Question Time event, alongside representatives from the Greens, Conservatives, UKIP, journalist Jonathan Isaby and Norfolk's Police and Crime Commissioner. It was brilliant to see a room full of young people who wanted to spend their Friday afternoon/evening engaging with politics.
We were quizzed on a range of different political issues: from Brexit and how it will affect our region to whether political education should be included on school curricula, and voting systems to whether Norfolk should become an independent state(!).
Across the questions, I outlined how The Labour Party would create a society where no person - young or old - is left behind. Everybody, including those under 25, deserves a real living wage. The public sector pay cap should be lifted so our nurses, doctors, teachers and police officers no longer have to be subject to a real terms pay cut. The Tory government's hard Brexit cannot go unchallenged and must work for the many.
Thank you to everyone who helped to organise, all the students from local schools to came down to watch and especially to Isobel for doing a fantastic job at chairing.
